I listened to over 400 albums, LP’s and EP’s in 2017. I wanted to share my list and experience with you.

Hi reddit,
Initially this started out as a typical 365 Albums in 365 Days challenge. We’ve seen them before haven’t we? You’ve probably even tried one yourself I imagine. I enjoy keeping lists, and tracking what I do over a particular. I already keep a list of what films I watch throughout a year, what books I’ve read, and so on. It only made sense for me to track the albums I listen to, and that’s how I ended up doing the challenge. However, I found myself also listening to a wide range of shorter EP’s and LP’s.
When listening to EP’s it felt a bit like cheating. How could I justify listening to a 15 minute EP one day, and listen to a 3-hour triple-LP the next? I couldn’t, so to make it a bit fairer I increased the target to 400, and then to 430 which I was able to hit just after Christmas.
Please note that this is just a silly little project that I would like to share with you all, I don't take music all that seriously, nor do I judge other's for their music tastes, I used to do this privately as a teenager but realised how much of a dense motherfucker I was, so doing this list has allowed me to come full circle in that regard.
Below is a list of everything I listened to, but before that I should get into some context about my musical taste and some general notes on the list. I would advise reading these before jumping straight into the list, just so you have an idea of what to expect.

Notes on the list
So I listen to a wide variety of music, I don’t generally stick to one genre, although like anyone, I do have my favourites and preferences and this will become obvious as the list goes on. For context, my favourite genres (I’m going to deliberately cast a very wide net here) range from electronic, jazz, hard rock, metal, electro-swing, blues/roots rock and punk. Again, I would like to stress this is deliberately vague and a wide net just to give you a general idea of what I like and what to expect to find in the list. I know reddit is home to some the world's greatest pedants but I'm not going to debate if deadmau5 is progressive house, tech house or two-step-inspired-80s-funk-disco-big-beat. It doesn't matter to me.
I will be the first to admit that there is a lack of some genres in this list, most notably hip-hop, especially compared to other genres. I’m a 26-year old white male from the UK countryside, I’m not exactly the first person you’d expect to listen to rap and grime and stuff Although I will admit, as the list goes on that number does start to grow - I will come back to this shortly.
I should also provide a greater context for the start of the list, and why it starts out the way it does. Throughout 2016 I spent a large portion of the year listening to the back catalogue of Miles Davis. He has dozens of albums and I spent a huge chunk of the previous year going through them. You can actually see this in action at the very start with the three albums, Sorcerer, Nerfititi and Filles de Kilimanjaro all being played in a row right at the start. These were the last three of his major label albums I needed to listen to, so it kinda spilled over into 2017 I guess. The first album, Nearness, was nominated for best Jazz Instrumental Album in the Grammy’s back in January so I just saw that as a simple place to start I guess.
How was I able to do this? Well I started the year working a part-time job in a small office, virtually by myself, I was essentially the only person in the office 80% of the time, and it allowed me to build up a huge collection of music to listen to. From dear favourites, to albums I probably should have already heard. (I will explain how I complied this shortly) I would work 6-hours a day, which if you include 40-minute-there-and-back commute allowed me to listen to as many as 7 albums/EP’s in a day, although this didn’t always happen.
I also figured I could listen to a lot of albums in the gym, which I ended up doing. I would handpick more suitable, faster, more aggressive albums which didn’t always work- Snuff by Slipknot coming on in the middle of a great workout is an immediate hype-killer, albeit a lovely song. From August I switched jobs, and so the list slowed down considerably, but by that point I had already amassed 250 listens. The rest would be listened to in the gym, at home, or via my new 50-minute commute. I also listened to a lot of audiobooks in this time, I probably could have got close to 500 if I was even more dedicated.
My methods of finding, storing and listening to albums simply came down to using spotify, specifically the Discover Weekly, Release Radar and Related Artists sections. I know this sounds like a bit of a shill, but I couldn’t believe how useful these tools are. My advice to anyone who is looking to find new bands/artists to listen to go to your favourite band’s spotify/deezetidal/apple music page and go through their related artists till you find one you like. Then go through their related artists pages, and so on. It starts slowly at first but as your tastes develop you begin to find more things you like, you understand them better, and learn to know what you like - classic example, I don’t like post-hardcore music. I just don’t like ‘shouty metal’ as I call it (there are a few odd exceptions, like anything but I generally don’t go in for it). However, as it turned out, I kinda like it when it’s a female vocalist doing it. I really enjoyed the sounds of Blood Command and Sumo Cyco for instance. Yes, I understand that these bands aren't 'post-hardcore' for you genre-pedants out there.
So, what did I learn/find out? Going chronologically is that I’ve learned to love Metal again. For years I dismissed it as shouty, over-indulgent noise but finding bands that blur the line between rock and metal, as well as the weird and wonderful. In March I stumbled across Ghost and absolutely fell in love with them. The Satanic thing is of course a fun gimmick but I love the pop-filtered metal sound. It was exactly what I wanted. I really, really love the album Meliora. I’d also second this to the various symphonic-metal bands, particularly Nightwish and Within Temptation. Dark Passion Play and Hydra have quickly become all-time favourites. I could go on but I’m sure you metalheads will be able to find what you’re looking for in the list.
Secondly, I learned to appreciate Kanye. So what you want about him as a person, his musical creations are phenomenal. I greatly adore his later work (MBDTF, Yeezus and TLOP) Yeezus in particular is another all-time favourite. I’m indifferent on the first three albums which I know is going to shock some people, they’re fine albums but I just prefer the later stuff.
Third, I learned to like Grime. I always held off on it but after sampling the likes of Skepta, Stormzy and a few others I learned that when they bang, there is nothing else like it. This can be seen towards the final third/back end of the list. I know grime might not agree as a whole but Gangs Signs and Prayer was one of the best albums I heard from 2017, and if I were to do this list in 2018, there’d likely be more Grime present.
Fourth, King Gizz are just amazing. End of. Just wanted to get that one out there. I’ll likely be starting 2018 with Gumboot Soup.
Lastly, I wanted to do this to prove to myself that I really can learn to enjoy all kinds of different music, from a huge spectrum, and so can you. If you go in with an open mind you can appreciate all sorts of bands and artists, I looked forward to listening to even the most weird and experimental and I guess ‘challenging’ of music.
Speaking of which, I would just like to point out that I only failed to finish two albums off this list:
Toxicity by System of a Down and Sold Out by DJ Paypal. I just found SOAD to be annoying and frankly they just don’t click with me, although I have heard some of Serj’s other work which is great, I think I turned it off with about 4 songs left. Sorry SOAD fans, I see the appeal but it just simply didn’t click for me, it happens sometimes. The latter (Sold Out) just wasn’t very good in my opinion so I turned it off after about 10 or 15 minutes. It felt like it was put together by someone who didn’t understand how to compose music, like at all. There were maybe 3 or 4 other albums I turned off before finishing but I didn’t write these down.
That’s enough from me, if you would like to know more about the list, or have any more specific questions or what I thought of a particular band/artist/song/album, ask away! Here is the list:

Homestuck official music - sorted by character

All the official Homestuck tracks
Excluding the albums: Squiddles!, Mobius Trip and Hadron Kaleido, Genesis Frog, SBURB (Tyler Dever) and One Year Older
I'm quite surprised that no one has done this already, given the time that Homestuck has been going on. But here's a list of all the official homestuck songs, sorted by charactelocation. This list can for example be used to make playlists based on certain characters.
I based this list on track art, song titles, comic content and the mspa sound credits only. And I didn’t include any bonus tracks, but feel free to comment on those as well.
If you have a suggestion for any of the songs I've labled as uncertain, please comment. I'll edit the post if I think it's a good suggestion.

I listened to over 400 albums, LP’s and EP’s in 2017. I wanted to share my list and experience with you

Hi reddit,
Initially this started out as a typical 365 Albums in 365 Days challenge.

Notes on the list:

Jiang Qing, Triads, Legation Cities and Realism

JUST TO BE CLEAR: I AM REPOSTING MY OWN POST. I feel like this title more adequately addresses my propositions.
WALL OF TEXT INCOMING.
I would love it if people, especially the devs, read this post and at the very least, considered it. Constructive criticism is more than welcome. To be honest, I don't know that much about Chinese history and KR lore for this to be the most realistic. These are just ideas that came to me one day. I don't even have the game, I follow it on Youtube and here on Reddit. I am just really passionate for this mod and wholeheartedly support its devs in the evolution of what is arguably the best mod for HOI4.
Anyway, without further ado, I think the Legation Cities COULD (not should) be revamped in this way;
The Legation Cities’ full name is the Union of Legation Cities, and they are often referred to externally as the Legation Cities but internally as the Union. The Legation Council will be renamed to the Board of Go

To further debuff the Cities, these national spirits will also be present:
Pervasive Trade Unions: The industrial and commercial nature of the Cities mean that the ZQZH or All-China Federation of Trade Unions has established itself in almost every workplace, save for the civil service and government. Like the FAUD, they have not been radicalised as of yet, but we have reason to suspect that they may have links to other syndicalist organisations. -10% production efficiency cap, +15% consumer goods factories, -20% factory output, -5% national unity
The XZD and the Guominjun: Many Chinese see the Legation Cities as a leech, sucking the lifeblood from China, and an epitome of Western imperialism and colonialism. As a result, many have turned to the far-right XZD, or Revive China Party in order to express their nationalistic anger. This in turn has caused the XZD to form a paramilitary organisation called the Guominjun (Nationalist Army), named after the army which operated in Northern China in the Warlord Era, and was destroyed in the German Intervention. So far, they have limited their actions to mere demonstrations but may soon engage in street brawls with whoever they deem to be an enemy of the Chinese people. -3% recruitable population factor, -0.2% recruitable population, -5% national unity, -0.25% daily political power gain
The CEM: Those Chinese nationalists who also support liberal democracy flock instead to the CEM (China Emancipation Movement). They have gained a substantial presence in the Legislative Assembly of the Union, to the point where they have veto power and can call upon a significant following to rally in the streets. Their influence is not limited to the populace, as large sections of the civil service, especially the lower echelons, employ ethnic Chinese who dearly wish for a brighter future for their homeland. -0.25% daily political power gain, +0.25% daily political power cost, +25% cost to political actions, -5% national unity
Rampant Organised Crime: The nature of the Cities means that trade with the rest of China flows through our ports. This means that we are rich, and enjoy protection from the world powers. However, an unfortunate side effect is that several triads have sprung up and cause a lot of trouble due to their criminal activities. We need to find a solution: either we co-operate with these triads or we crush them. Triad related events will occur from time to time. -5% national unity, +5% consumer goods, -5% division organisation recovery rate
Underpaid Civil Service: The economic downturn occurring around the world means that we have been running a deficit for quite some time now. While it is not a bad thing to run a deficit at times, we are in such a bad state of debt and decay that we can no longer afford to properly pay and staff both the civil services that keep the Union running and the constabularies which maintain order and monitor criminal activities. -3% recruitable population factor, -10% division recovery rate (not halved), -0.2% recruitable population, -20% division organisation recovery rate
Jiang Qing: The famous actress burst onto the international stage in 1935, with her debut film, Journey to the West, where she stars as Kuanyin, the bodhisattva tasked with guiding Xuanzand and Sun Wukong on their pilgrimage. Since then, she has become entangled in political life as well, after meeting Cecil Clementi, who became her godfather. People eagerly flock to see her movies, as she has truly earned herself a spot on the world stage. Not only that, her philanthropic deeds and love for the common man have made her the Idol of Shanghai. +5% national unity, +0.2% political power gain
Political Crisis: The worsening global economic trend has had a lethargic and worrisome impact on our economy. The peoples faith in the Mandate is failing, and even as internal squabbles threaten to tear us apart, outside forces seek to end it entirely. -0.25% daily political power gain, +0.25% daily political power cost, +25% cost to political actions, -5% national unity
The Focus Tree
The Struggle for Shanghai doesn't seem like something you can just take, so it should be a focus available only after a major event, such as Black Monday.
It would be a 180 day focus (too long?) where several events fire on a regular basis. Such events would be:
Strike in [insert city here] The ZQZH has called a strike in [insert city here]. Workers from various occupations are demanding an 8 hour workday, a minimum wage and expanded rights. What shall we do? -Give in to the workers' demands: + syndicalist popularity -Crackdown on the strike: +centralist pop -Offer them some empty promises: +moderate pop -Ask for third party negotiator: minus political power (e.g. if you don't want to increase popularity of syndicalists but wait for a event that increases NatPop popularity)
Democratic rally in [insert city here] The CEM has called a rally in [insert city here]. Activists from various occupations are demanding expanded rights for Chinese citizens, welfare reforms and public works. What shall we do? -Pass pro-Chinese reforms: +democratic pop -Disperse the activists: +centralist pop -Give them limited reform: +moderate pop -Third party negotiator: minus pp
The Guominjun brawls in [insert city here]! The XZD has mobilised its paramilitary, the Guominjun, and brawled with trade unionists, CEM activists and constabularies! -Let them quarrel: +NatPop pop -Clear the area!: +moderate pop -Mobilise the constabularies! +centralist pop -We really can't do anything: minus pp
Events that only fire once:
Hergé - Tintin and the Blue Lotus: The Flemish cartoonist Hergé has released a new comic book, depicting a Flemish journalist's adventures in the Cities. Among his adventures, the journalist fights a Japanese affiliated triad and busts an opium smuggling scheme. How should we respond? Endorse the comic: plus pp Slander it on behalf of our triad friends: minus pp, minus 5% consumer goods factories for 30 days
No, Jiang Qing will NOT be a head of a triad but for all you thirsty players out there she CAN have a cameo. However, she COULD also come to power in the Night of the Monkey's Head, details below.
Jiang Qing - The Dragon of Shanghai: (after the Blue Lotus event) The famous actress Jiang Qing is the star of this film, which has just premiered in cinemas across the world. In it, her character, a young peasant girl who becomes entangled in the high life of Shanghai, makes some implicitly pro-triad remarks, especially since her lover is a triad head suspiciously similar to Du Yueh Seng. However he is eventually betrayed by the young girl who murders him when she discovers the true, grisly extent of his crimes. The film has proved quite unpopular with the triads who are asking us to shut screenings of the film down. We will continue to screen the film: plus pp, minus nat unity We will show respect to our friends: minus pp, minus 5% consumer goods factories for 30 days
Cecil Clementi adopts Jiang Qing! Recently, Jiang Qing was officially adopted by Cecil Clementi, assuming the name Lady Clementi. While she will still figure prominently in acting spheres, she has also assumed a lot more political power. This is sure to drive a new wedge between Clementi and Errol, as the latter is rumored to be a secret admirer of Jiang's. Furthermore, her recent movie, The Dragon of Shanghai, was quite controversial among the triads and may place further obstacles between the government and the triads. -Whoopee!: Replace Jiang Qing NS with Lady Clementi: +5% national unity, +0.2 pp gain, -0.2 daily pp cost
The options that increase syndicalist, democratic and nationalist popularity would fire around 4 times and give 15% popularity whereas moderate and centralist give 5% popularity.
After the Struggle the choice between self-government and the status quo is made. If self-government is chosen then the player can choose the socialist, democratic or NatPop paths; this bit is pretty straightforward as the party with the highest popularity locks you into its corresponding paths. The self-government focus will instantly get rid of the Recruitment Crisis spirit, and once a path is chosen the Pervasive Trade Union, The XZD and Guominjun and The CEM national spirits will be removed. If the status quo is maintained then the player will encounter another event, leading to either moderate or centralist paths. Once either the self-government or status quo focuses are chosen, the player will take a hit in pp, but the Pervasive Trade Union, The XZD and Guominjun and The CEM national spirits will be removed.
Socialist path- The Jiangnan Strike: A strike at the Jiangnan Shipyard escalated out of control after the managers refused to accept some of the strikers’ demands. The ZQZH then responded by calling a general strike for Shanghai, but when Commissioner Errol threatened to mobilise the Cities’ constabularies, trade unions all over the Cities broke out in full revolt! The strikers were originally unco-ordinated, but soon organised themselves and stormed the -We will empower the Chinese proletariat!: syndicalists take over
Democratic path- Article 23: Recently, pro-CEM legislators came forward to propose an amendment to the Constitution of the Mandate. Article 23, as the amendment was called, would introduce several sweeping pro-CEM policies, effectively ending the Mandate and turning the Cities into a union under a Republic. The CEM, led by the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, has rallied outside the Legislative Quarters of each city, demanding the Board of Governors pass the Article. At noon, Clementi signed the Article, making it law and effectively restructuring the Cities into a Republic. -The Article will bring freedom to China: CEM takes over
NatPop path- Battle of Cable Street: In the early hours of the morning, several divisions of the Guominjun assembled in the newly built Nelson Square, not far from the Shanghai Headquarters of the International Mandate. They began marching along the newly constructed Cable Street, until they were stopped at the Kaiser Wilhelm Plaza by the city's constabularies. When the Guominjun overturned a tramcar and two trucks, the constabularies engaged them in battle. However they did not account for the native Chinese who flocked to the battle in droves, and soon they were overcome, and the path to the Headquarters was wide open. -Now we can restore China to greatness!: nationalists take over
If status quo then this event will occur:
The Night of the Monkey's Head: In the weeks after the so-called Struggle for Shanghai, the Cities continued on their downward spiral into chaos and anarchy. Citing the ever worsening conditions, Commissioner Commissioner Errol declared Cecil Clementi unfit to govern and ordered him to step down. At 6:00 in the evening, constabularies entered the Headquarters and had a tense standoff with Clementi’s personal bodyguard. The tension was broken as a constabulary fired at Clementi, injuring him and starting a battle that soon engulfed the Cities as constabularies loyal to either sides battled it out in the streets. -Clementi dies and Commissioner Errol assumes power: centralists take over -Clementi survives and arrests Commissioner Errol: moderates remain -Clementi dies but Madame Clementi and the Board arrest Errol: moderates remain, hit to pp
And voila, we have a plausible(?) way that Jiang comes to power, although may I justify it by saying: A- she isn't a triad head; she’s just a high profile actor who, due to her proximity to Clementi, had the chance to get engaged in political intrigue. Besides, she got entangled with Communism OTL anyway. This path of her becoming a politician through her links as a famous actor is a lot more plausible than her becoming the head of a triad. B- real power will mostly lie with the Board of Governors, which will be the Head of Government.
After the Struggle for Shanghai, the focus tree splits in two: one branch deals with Government and the other concerns the Triads. Government: The Government branch splits into Self-Government and Status Quo. Depending which path you chose, you'd be locked into its respective branch. The options for Self Government are:
Socialism Triumphant: This unlocks several options, such as the decision to join either the Third or Fourth (if it exists) Internationale, and whether to go Totalist, Syndicalist or Radical Socialist.
China Emancipated: Pretty straightforward, but after this the CEM reforms into the KMT and the MarLib and SocCon parties also become part of the CEM. Options to join the Fengtian Government or form ROC.
China Resurgent: After this, the AuthDem and PatAut parties become part of the XZD and there is a decision to be made on whether to revive the Ming Dynasty under Zhu Rongji (AuthDem if constitutional, PatAut for absolutist) or create the Pan-Chinese State, or (as I have heard, not entirely sure, don't quote me on this) since the Shangqing Tianguo is going to be axed from the rework there should be an option to invite the Ikuantao into government.
There is also a tree that has focuses which boost their popularity in other Chinese cliques and gives the player focuses to attack them or use covert actions.
However embracing self government would trigger an event for all countries which have non-aggression pacts and guarantees with them (except Japan).
The Cities break free of the Mandate!: -We must restore the Mandate! To war!: DoW, plus pp -Place sanctions on them: remove non-aggression pact and guarantee, plus pp -There's nothing we can do: minus pp -Ask the Chinese and Japanese to intervene: see below
If the last option is selected then whoever neighbours the Cities (to begin with, according to the upcoming China rework, the League of Eight Provinces, AOG, Qing) and Japan get this modified version of the event:
We are asked to intervene to restore the Mandate!: -We must restore the Mandate! To war!: DoW, plus pp -There's nothing we can do: minus pp
At the end, whoever annexes the state of Shanghai gets this event: The Fate of the Union: -Restore the Mandate: restores independent Cities with AuthDem in control -Restore the Mandate... under our control: puppets Legation Cities, triggers intervention event, HUGE hit to pp
If not all of the cities are owned by the same country then these options are available: -Restore the Mandate... under our control: puppets and demands Legation Cities, triggers intervention event, HUGE hit to pp -Annex the cities: demands the other cities if they are not all owned by the same country, triggers intervention event, HUGE hit to pp -Partition the cities: keeps as is, triggers intervention event, HUGE hit to pp
If the rest of the Cities are demanded, then everybody else who owns a core will be forced to give it to the puppet or new controller or risk war.
The second intervention event triggers if the above options are chosen and appears to every country that originally had a non-aggression pact and guarantee with the Cities:
The Mandate is not restored!: -We must restore the Mandate! To war!: DoW, plus pp -There's nothing we can do: minus pp
After this the Mandate will be restored and the Cities will be status quo ante bellum but are locked into AuthDem; the previous prerequisite focuses will be bypassed and the Cities locked into the Centralist path.
The options for Status Quo are:
Moderate: Reform the Mandate: Madame Clementi - Pass pro-Chinese reforms and appease the CEM, (turning the SocDem and SocLib parties into the Int'l Mandate) and eventually integrating them into the Mandate. Also, Madame Clementi will reform the political system.
The Mandate Prevails: Cecil Clementi - use same tree as its namesake from the base KR.
Centralist: Commissioner Errol could use his power to merely stabilise the Cities at first, suspending the Council.
Commissioner Errol dissolves the Council: -Tobias Ehrler launches a coup and stops Errol: stay AuthDem -Errol dissolves the Council: go PatAut
Centralised Mandate: Ehrler’s Coup. The more moderate centralist path, stay AuthDem
The Commissioner Takes Control: uses its namesake focus tree. But with a choice: the NatPop party turns into the Int’l Mandate, giving options between Traditional Autocracy (PatAut) and Radical Autocracy (NatPop).
The Status Quo would have an option to invade the League of Eight Provinces and AOG in the event that they collapse or form the Republic. The Legation Cities could then become the League of Chinese Autonomies (resembling the current AOG) and then, under an enterprising player, go on to conquer all of China through an extension of the focus tree that gives claims on the various cliques.
Note on National Spirits: the Political Crisis NS will be removed by taking the Self-Government or Status Quo focuses, but the CEM, Pervasive Trade Unions and the XZD and Guominjun will only be removed once you have taken one of the focuses that come after it. For example, taking the China Emancipated focus will remove those three.
Triad events These events just fire anytime at random and aren't resolved until you finish the triad branch of the tree.
Triad warfare engulfs [insert city here]!: Recently, a fight has broken out between major triads, leading to robberies, killings and intrigue all over the cities. Shops and businesses have shut down and the Cities' citizens are trying to keep their heads down. -Clamp down on the triads!: +pp, minus manpower -Let them fight!: minus pp, plus 5% consumer goods factories for 30 days
Opium shipment seized!: Recently, a lucrative shipment of opium was seized at a customs office, no doubt headed for opium dens across China or the world. The smugglers are offering us a small payment to let the shipment through, and to keep the incident silent. -Accept the bribe: minus pp, minus 5% consumer goods factories for 30 days -Seize the shipment and arrest them!: plus pp
Arms smugglers arrested!: Recently, a lucrative shipment of arms and munitions was seized at a customs office, no doubt headed for wars across China or the world. The smugglers are offering us a small payment to let the shipment through, and to keep the incident silent. -Release them... for a fee: minus pp -Seize the shipment and arrest them!: plus pp, plus small amt of inf equipment
Money laundering operation uncovered!: Recently, a money laundering operation involving several casinos, banks, money exchange offices and dummy corporations was uncovered during a raid conducted by constabularies. The scandal has rocked the Cities, as many wealthy aristocrats and senior officials in the civil service are shipping their money elsewhere. The triads and those involved are offering us a small payment to let the operations resume. -Let them be... for a price: minus pp, plus national unity -Shut it down and arrest those involved!: plus pp
The Triad branch would split into two branches: co-operation vs crushing the triads, and you gain a corresponding national spirit. The co-operation branch would split between the three Triad trees that are currently in the game (Du for arms smuggling and Jinrong for money laundering or whatever) but Jiang Qing is replaced by Zhang Xiaolin, who was historically, one of the Three Bosses of Shanghai, and a much more realistic boss than Jiang Qing of all bloody people do you really want Madame Mao running an opium smuggling operation SHE WAS HATED FOR RUNNING THE GANG OF FOUR AND CLINGING TO POWER AFTER MAO’S DEATH IN OTL!. ahem But of course, she will still have an appearance as an actress with a movie.
Once you complete a triad co-operation branch its related event will not fire. For example, co-operating with opium kingpin Xiaolin will cause the opium event to stop firing but the others will keep firing since you did not choose to co-operate with them. If you co-operate with a triad instead of getting the regular triad warfare event you will get these:
Triad requests help in their operations: Our deal with the triads is a mutual one; we benefit from the profits and in return we turn a blind eye to some of their more unsavoury deeds. However, they have run into some problems in a recent operation and have asked us for assistance. -We will help out our friends: plus pp, minus 5% consumer goods factories for 30 days -They'll have to go it alone: minus pp
Triad requests aid in feud: The triads operating in our Cities have a bad habit of feuding, although since we signed our deal we have had one less triad to worry about. However, they have gotten entangled in a rather nasty feud, so it falls to us to pick up the pieces. -We will help out our friends: plus pp, minus manpower -They'll have to go it alone: minus pp
Triad offers manpower: We have been having a shortage of manpower and the constabularies are begging for help in their operations. As per our deal with the triad, they can be obliged to offer some of their 49'ers and Blue Lanterns to aid us. -We accept with gratitude: minus pp, plus manpower -We are fine, thanks: plus pp
Triad offers surplus profits: We have been running a deficit as of late and the civil service is begging for help with administration. As per our deal with the triad, they can be obliged to offer some of their surplus profits to aid us. -We accept with gratitude: minus pp, minus 5% consumer goods factories for 30 days -We are fine, thanks: plus pp
The triad isn't behaving: We have received worrying reports that members of the triad we have made a deal with have raided a government owned institution. This places an uncomfortable dilemna before us; who do we side with? -Rein the triad in: minus pp, minus manpower -Tell those affected that it is their tough luck: minus pp, minus 0.2 pp gain for 30 days
Alternatively you could spend lots of consumer goods factories, manpower and build a lot more divisions to crush the triads once and for all and stop all events firing permanently.
There will be a dedicated economic branch of the tree, not requiring the Struggle for Shanghai focus but also only available after Black Monday. For a placeholder, you could use the Social Democratic and Social Conservative economy trees from Austria, (the brances beginning with Public Welfare Reforms and National Austerity Council), although altered so:
Subsidies for Farmers: -> Subsidies for Factories Compromise with the SDAP: -> Introduce co-operatives Naturfreunde -> Devolve Power to Municipal Authorities National -> Union-wide
Upon completing either branch they will merge into one focus which lets the player get rid of the Underpaid Civil Service national spirit. Only after getting rid of this NS can you complete the end of the branches (e.g. complete Economic Boom or Reforged Economy which will replace the Economic Meltdown NS).
The military tree will have two branches: Internal Security This branch splits into: Expanding the Police Force (only if you crushed the triads) and Incorporate the Triads (only if you co-operated with them).
An Army of Our Own Gives different options for doctrine and armament research bonuses, can choose to either get a socialist, democratic army of expand the Guominjun or have League army resembling that of Mittelafrika or AOG: European officer corps, Chinese soldiers.
I also reckon that Black Monday would hit the Cities really hard, giving it a National Spirit that cripples them and is only removable through the economy focuses.
For those wondering what the League of Eight Provinces are, check the forum for news on the upcoming China rework.
Note: WOW this got a lot longer and more complicated than it first was. Lots of editing.
Thanks to all of those who stuck there and read to the end.
Also, I propose that the Princely Federation should be renamed to Azad Hind (Free India) just cus I feel like it is more appropriate than Princely Federation, and it also makes it clear that this is an Indian Nation, not a random generic name.
